It literally means that the color is painted over a base color, and with friction or contact with the skin, it will fade.
When there is friction or contact with the skin, you should choose duracoat colored, as duracoat means that an extra layer has been added to protect it.

About this color type

Opaque dyed beads are opaque beads where the color is added from the outside as a color layer. This allows Miyuki to create colors that cannot be achieved through colored glass alone — such as light pastels and special shades.

Durability: Low to medium. Dyed colors can fade over time when exposed to sunlight, sweat, perfume, cream, and heavy friction. If the bead also has a Duracoat coating, durability is significantly increased.

Best for: Decorative jewelry, projects not exposed to daily wear, or designs where you've chosen a Duracoat-protected variant.
