Jade beads and their incredible history

Jade beads are a fantastic semi-precious stone, truly one of the stones that different cultures around the world have embraced since ancient times. The strong beliefs have been preserved, and the same goes for the traditions associated with this beautiful gemstone. Here in Denmark, we are used to engagement rings and wedding rings being made with diamonds. In fact, this is a common custom in many countries, though not all.

Especially in Asian countries, jade stones hold a completely different significance than they do here in Denmark. If you travel further east, you will find cultures where jade beads are more valued than diamonds. This is rooted in ancient traditions and beliefs. In particular, its properties are of great importance to Asian cultures. It is said that the wearer of jade is protected against accidents and misfortune. The stone will absorb any misfortune you might otherwise be exposed to, which is one of the reasons the stone is often a fixed part of wedding ceremonies in Asian cultures.

Benefits of using jade stones in your jewelry

It is no secret that jade stone is, and has always been, an incredibly popular semi-precious stone. This is due, among other things, to the healing properties and meanings that have been associated with jade beads for the past several centuries.

The overall significance of a jade stems from its ability to instill calm and considered wisdom in the wearer, while also discarding the negativity that prevents you from seeing your true self.

Jade and its properties

Jade has a wealth of properties that can benefit you in various ways. Below, we describe the spiritual, physical, and emotional healing properties that jade possesses.

Jade beads and their spiritual healing properties

In addition to creating wisdom and discarding negativity, it can also help you if you are seeking spiritual properties in your gemstone. Perhaps you are looking for balance and harmony in your relationships, whether it's your friendships or your romantic relationships? If that's the case, jade stone could probably be something for you. Some of the most well-known properties jade beads have is that they have always been associated with joy and harmony in the relationships you have in life. This applies to family, friends, and work alike. In addition, jade also gives you a feeling of being firmly grounded, while the semi-precious stone contributes to a calmer and more considered mind. In ancient times, both nobles and peasants often wore jade jewelry, and this was primarily due to two things.

1. Devout families often carried their faith with them in the form of jewelry and gemstones to protect themselves against deceitful and malicious people, spirits, and misfortune.

2. Jade is said to promote an abundance of both material goods and good intentions from the outside world.

Two forms of jade stone that are particularly known for their good properties are lavender jade and green jade. Lavender jade is a nourishing and protective gemstone, while green jade promotes an abundance of divine energy, while also helping you keep your feet planted firmly on the ground. In addition, jade beads will support you and remind you that every now and then it's okay to pause in a busy everyday life, take a deep breath, and simply enjoy the moment.

Quote time: In the spiritual world, there is a legend about the person who wears jade, which goes as follows: “He who acts selflessly today, gains goodwill for himself in the future. Any personal inconvenience and self-sacrifice will be more than compensated for in the future”.

Jade beads and their physical healing properties

Jade beads also have physical healing properties, and you may have heard of a Jade Roller or a Gua Sha set, which today can be found in many places. Or perhaps you're thinking - NO, what on earth is a jade roller? In short, you can today get several different types of massage stones for, for example, your face, which can help give your skin a new glow by combining jade's rejuvenating properties with the massage that increases blood circulation and thereby increases collagen production, which ensures healthy and firm skin.

In addition to jade being able to give new life to your skin, it has also been used by people for centuries to relieve pain and injuries resulting from illness or accidents. Here, jade's properties have been recognized as a supportive stone for people who have experienced suffering of varying degrees over a longer period of time.

Jade beads and their emotional healing properties

The semi-precious stone is also incredibly well suited for those seeking emotional healing, Jade beads have a calming energy which helps ease irritability and thereby contributes to a shorter path to emotional balance. One's personality can also receive a much-needed support, as jade has a very special ability to create balance between body and mind. This arises from the fact that one's ideas become simplified, and thus you experience that your ideas are easier to fulfill and bring to life. Another area where jade beads have a reinforcing effect is in the world of dreams. Here you will find that your dreams are both more productive and useful in everyday life. Here your dreams will be insightful, while you will also experience that you can remember the content of your dreams to a greater extent and at the same time see the clear messages that are often hidden in our dreams.

For it is through embrace and acceptance that self-confidence can truly grow. As self-confidence grows, so does this burning desire to take the leap and work towards change.

There are three types of jade gemstones in particular that are good for emotional healing. We have listed them below so you can easily find them:

Black Jade, Purple Jade and Red Jade

Where does Jade come from?

Jade is found in several different places around the world. In Russia, China and Guatemala, both jadeite and nephrite are found. In addition, nephrite is also mined from countries such as Switzerland and New Zealand. In Canada, some beautiful dark green jades have been mined in recent years, which have been given the name "Canada Jade" due to their characteristic deep green color.

The most sought-after jadeite stones in the world are the well-known "Burmese Jade". It is mined today in Myanmar, which was formerly known as Burma. Due to political decisions and strict trade restrictions in Myanmar, the occurrence of Burmese jade has become rarer in the world. In addition, increasing demand has helped push up the price of Burmese jade.

There are two types of jade stones

Yes, that's a fair question. Jade actually consists of two separate minerals. One is jadeite, whose chemical designation is a sodium aluminum silicate. You're welcome to the chemistry nerds out there. The other mineral is nephrite, which also has a chemical designation, being a calcium magnesium silicate, and now I'll stop the chemistry lesson.
For centuries, these two types of jade could not be distinguished from one another, until 20th century technology stepped in and made us a little wiser about the semi-precious stone's composition of the two minerals. Both forms of jade are considered genuine jade and are also known by the term "Zhen Yu", which means genuine jade.

Today, jadeite is the rarest form of jade that exists, and therefore you will also find that the price is somewhat higher for jadeite compared to nephrite.
