Miyuki Delica Beads – DB 1894, Transparent Luster Emerald (11/0)

Luster beads have a shiny, uniform gloss on the surface that enhances the base color and gives the bead extra depth. The luster coating can be clear, colored, or have a golden tone (gold luster).

Durability: Medium to high. Regular luster on non-dyed beads is very durable. Gold luster, however, is less durable — Miyuki states that it may fade from UV exposure and wear off with heavy friction.

Best for: Jewelry where the colors need to really pop, designs with a classic elegant accent, projects for occasional use.

Transparent beads are see-through, so light passes through them, giving the beads depth and glow. The color comes from the glass itself and creates a classic, clear look reminiscent of small colored glass beads.

Durability: High — if the bead is non-dyed. When the color comes from the glass itself, it will not fade. If the bead is "transparent dyed", the durability is lower, as the dyed color can be affected by sun and chemicals.

Best for: Jewelry where you want light and depth in the design, combinations with metal wire that shines through the beads, classic bead weaving projects.
