Opelon® is a popular choice among jewelry designers because the cord is durable, easy to work with and gives a beautiful result. The black color goes perfectly with dark beads, gemstones and modern jewelry designs

Opelon differs from many other elastic cords in that it is flat and slightly elastic. This allows a crimp bead to get a better grip than on a completely round, smooth elastic cord.

However, there are a few things you should be aware of:

  • Use small crimp beads that match the thickness of Opelon.
  • Crimp the crimp bead only once with even pressure – too much pressure can damage the elastic.
  • It's a good idea to test the tension before using the jewelry.

Many jewelry designers specifically use the combination of Opelon + crimp beads instead of knots, especially when they want a neat finish.

Sådan knytter du elastik, så den holder

Et elastikarmbånd er et af de nemmeste smykker at lave – men det er knuden, der afgør, om det holder. Med de her trin sidder den fast, også når armbåndet bliver trukket over hånden igen og igen.

Sådan gør du
  1. Stræk elastikken et par gange, før du trækker perlerne på – så giver den sig ikke bagefter.
  2. Sæt en bead stopper på enden, så perlerne ikke glider af, mens du arbejder.
  3. Bind en kirurgisk knude: et slag med to omgange, og derefter et almindeligt slag ovenpå. Træk den godt stramt, og slå gerne en knude mere.
  4. Klip enderne af et par millimeter fra knuden, og skjul knuden inde i en perle med stort hul eller under en knudeskjuler.

Fif: Vil du have en ekstra stærk knude, så kom en lille klat smykkelim på knuden, og lad den tørre helt, før du klipper enderne af.

Vælg den rigtige elastik

Til tungere perler som natursten og glasperler er en kraftigere elastik fra 0,8 mm et godt valg. Til små perler som seed beads skal du bruge en tynd elastik, så den kan komme igennem de små huller.

Vil du have ekstra styrke, har vi Super Stærk Elastiksnor helt fra 0,5 mm og op til 1,5 mm – og den internationalt kendte Opelon elastiksnor, der også er kendt for sin ekstra holdbarhed, fra 0,4 mm.

Kort sagt: Stræk elastikken og bind en kirurgisk knude – så holder dit armbånd. Med en klat lim på knuden sidder den helt fast.
