“Opaque color” means that the color is applied over a base color. This color type is beautiful but can usually wear off faster when in contact with skin or friction. About this color type

Opaque beads are opaque with a pure, solid color and no translucency. The color comes from the glass itself, giving a strong and uniform color expression in your beadwork.

Durability: High. When the beads are opaque without dyed color, the color will stay beautiful over time without fading. Be aware that some opaque beads may be "opaque dyed" — where the color has been added externally and is therefore more sensitive to sun and chemicals.

Duracoat® is Miyuki's own patented protective coating — a thicker and stronger clear coating than traditional surface finishes. It is typically applied on top of dyed or galvanized beads to make them significantly more resistant.

Note that Duracoat improves durability — but doesn't provide 100% protection, so it's still a good idea to avoid getting the beads wet and keep them away from direct sunlight when storing.
