What does Herkimer mean?
Herkimer refers to a special type of quartz called Herkimer diamonds. They originally come from Herkimer County in New York and are naturally double-terminated quartz crystals – that is, crystals that have a point at both ends.

They are known to be:

  • very clear

  • naturally faceted by nature

  • harder and more lustrous than ordinary rock crystal

Although they are called "diamonds," they are pure quartz – the name comes from their clear appearance and natural shape.
